History of the Kinettes
Shopping spree

April 19, 1967

Kinette Club of Vulcan – Chartered

The Kinette Club was charted by the Kinsmen Club of Vulcan and sponsored by the Kinette Club of Lethbridge. District Deputy Governor Grant Gardiner of Medicine Hat installed the following executive: Shirley Gatenby – President, Rita Scott – Vice-President, Jacqueline Lucas – Secretary, Aggie Petrosky – Treasurer, Audrey Warren – Director, and another 17 charter members of this Kinette Club. Their first community project was to babysit the babies and young children of the mothers of Vulcan who wished to take swimming lessons in June 1967. The club continued to serve their community with various fundraising events where the proceeds earned went back into the community as well as numerous volunteer initiatives that benefited the community of Vulcan.

Club disbanded due to lack of active membership but they still continued to actively volunteer through the Kinsmen Club to support the community.

April 28, 1990

Kinette Club of Vulcan – Chartered

The charter night was hosted by Kim Sorenson, President of the Vulcan Kinsmen Club. Dearla Bakke, District 4 Kinette Director and Janet Ball, Zone Kinette Co-ordinator installed the following executive: Brenda McDonald – President, Nancy Elander – Vice-President, Sherry Williams – Treasurer, Karen Hervey – Secretary and another 25 charter members of this Kinette Club. One of the first initiatives of this club was to welcome the 1st New Years baby in Vulcan in 1991 with a gift basket made up by the Kinette Club. The Kinette’s continue to benefit the community with donations and volunteer initiatives. The Kinette’s plant to continue to serve the community for many years to come.

Heather Brooks and Badland Summer Games Dance to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Sweetheart Dance to fund the Ambulance Service

Started volunteering for the Calgary Stampede lottery booths

Started the Highway Clean Up Project done annually

Reinvigoration of the Shopping Spree fundraiser to raise funds for the Community Walking Path

Walk to Lethbridge to raise funds for the Community Walking Path
